Dhanushkodi & Rameshwaram

Dhanushkodi is only land border between India and Sri Lanka which is one of the smallest in the world just 50 yards in length on a sand dune in Palk Strait. ( a low depth zone in the bay of bengal)..

Before the 1964 cyclone, Dhanushkodi was a flourishing tourist and pilgrimage town. Since Sri Lanka is just 18 miles away, there were many weekly ferry services between Dhanushkodi and Thalaimannar of Srilanka, transporting travelers and goods across the sea. There were hotels, textile shops and dharmashalas catering to these pilgrims and travelers.

Entire Dhanushkodi washed away by the tsunami waves with the combination of cyclone that crossed the bay during Dec, 1964. Entire island washed away within minutes..killing arround 2000 peoples..then dhanushkodi was declared as ghost city..un- fit to live..Only few fisherfolks now live there.

reaching the lonely island which tells the sorrows of the lost peoples...i could not able to control my tears when i reached the island..

Rameshwaram..

Rameshwaram one of the pilgrim city in the india..in the south nook corner in the border..
just visited the city in the early hours of day..intention ..to capture something different
